Resigned to consolidate the forces of mass uprising: Nahid

DHAKA, Feb 25, 2025 (BSS) - After resigning from the post of adviser to the interim government, Md Nahid Islam today said he resigned with the aim of working from the field to implement aspirations of the Mass Uprising.’

"I think my role would be more effective on the streets, staying outside the government, to consolidate the forces participating in the mass uprising," he told a media briefing in front of the State Guest House Jamuna here.

Nahid said apart from taking the responsibility of two ministries, he performed additional duties in the last six months. 

"Six months is a very short time," he said, adding even then, he tried but the country's people would evaluate his works.

Replying to a question, Nahid said he intends to join a new political party, which is going to be formed.

Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam and Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder were present at the briefing.

Earlier in the day, Information and Broadcasting Adviser Nahid Islam resigned from his post. 


He submitted his resignation letter to Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus.

At the same time, Nahid resigned from all the government committees he joined.
