DHAKA, Dec 22, 2021 (BSS) - Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor
Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh today said discipline would be restored
soon in city public transport.
"With the launching of bus route rationalization programme on December 26,
traffic discipline will be restored in the public transport of Dhaka city,"
he said.
Taposh said this after inauguration of a pedestrian crossing bridge at
Shankar in the city as part of the weekly regular inspection activities, said
a press release.
"Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader will inaugurate the bus
rationalization programme on December 26, so we are now inspecting the
passenger tents, infrastructure development and bus-bay that are being
constructed," he said.
Expressing his determination to benefit the people of Dhaka city by
completing bus route rationalization activities in the entire Green Cluster
by next year, Taposh said, "I hope that if it is fully implemented by 2022,
the people of Dhaka will get complete benefit out of it."
He requested the people of Dhaka city to use all the infrastructures
including pedestrian bridges, at road crossings.
"We have already taken initiative to modernize and automate the traffic
management at all intersections points," he said.
Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation Farid Ahmed, Air Commodore
Sitwat Naeem, Chief Waste Management Officer Saleh Ahmed, Chief Engineer
Secretary Akramuzzaman, Chief Health Officer Dr Fazle Shamsul Kabir, Chief
Property Officer Russell Sabrin, Chief Revenue Officer Ariful Haque, among
others, were present.
