KISHOREGANJ, March 30, 2022 (BSS) - President M Abdul Hamid today called upon the government along with private the entrepreneurs to come forward to face the challenges and utilize the potential of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).
"We need to create skilled human resources in the technology of the Fourth Industrial Revolution," he told a function after laying foundation stone of the "Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Center" at District Shilpokola Accedemy here today.
He said education and works are inextricably linked and students will be able to create employment opportunities for themselves as well as others with easy training from this center.
The President said, “The implementation of Digital Bangladesh has created an opportunity for us to lead the Fourth Industrial Revolution.”
Abdul Hamid said 65 percent youth population of the country needs to be empowered through training so that they can use the opportunity to contribute to the socio-economic development of the country.
Noting that the misuse and fraud of IT has increased many challenges, the President said, adding that information technologists need to be vigilant in tackling these challenges.
He said importing IT properties is not enough for development, but it is important to ensure its sustainable use as digital economy has developed in the country due to implementation of Digital Bangladesh.
Bangladesh, he said, provides software and IT services to more than 80 countries of the world, including USA, Europe, Canada and Australia, and export volume in this sector have surpassed US$ 1.3 billion.
"By 2025, this revenue will exceed US$ five billion and the contribution of software and IT services to GDP will increase by five percent," he said.
The President said some unscrupulous traders manipulated e-commerce, especially online shopping, in the name of business during the Corona.
"Therefore, the expansion of e-commerce and online business must continue by preventing the misuse of information technology," Hamid added.
He also urged the buyers to avoid the mentality of stumbling upon the lucrative offers.
State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP, presided over the function while Dr. Syeda Zakia Noor, MP, and Rezwan Ahmed Tawfiq, MP, among others, spoke.
A documentary on the life and works of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was screened on the occasion.
