Holding talks with 'non-existent' parties reveals BNP's bankruptcy: Hasan

CHATTOGRAM, June 3, 2022 (BSS) - Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said BNP's political bankruptcy has been revealed through its holding of meetings with 'non-existent' parties.

"Nowadays BNP is holding meetings with the parties which have no existence in reality. Through these, they are merely presenting news but it is revealing BNP's political bankruptcy," he said.

Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary, was addressing as the chief guest at a human chain organized by Chattogram north and south district unit of Mohila Awami League in front of Chattogram Press Club protesting the death threat against Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Hasan said BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is now talking about price hike of essential goods.

"On the other hand, their (BNP's) acting chairman, who is staying thousands miles away from Bangladesh, is instructing the businessmen to stockpile goods, raise prices of essential items and create an artificial crisis in the country over phone. Many businessmen including pro-BNP businessmen are being encouraged by getting these messages," he added.

The minister said BNP is making evil efforts to spread different types of misleading information.

"Every day BNP is holding meetings with different parties. After BNP's meetings with those parties, people knew that there were such parties in the country," he said.

He said BNP announced that they would forge unity of left leaning parties as well as the rightists.

Before 2018 general elections, they forged unity of leftists-rightists, extreme rightists and extreme leftists and they joined elections with their united efforts but in result, BNP won only five seats, he mentioned.

So, people don't think that BNP will be able to get better result than previous elections by holding meetings with maximum number of parties, he said.

"Conspiracies began... we will stay in field till the polls. If they again make ill-attempts to create anarchy, we along with the people will resist them in iron hand," he said.

Hasan said leaders and workers of the Awami League, a pro-people party, always stayed in streets in the past and they are staying now too.

"Workers of our Awami Mohila League and Jubo Mohila League took to the streets in Dhaka and Chattogram. They are enough to resist the terrorists of BNP-Jamaat alliance," the AL joint general secretary said.

General secretary of the North District Awami Women's League Advocate Basanti Prabha Palit, Mohila Awami League leaders Syeda Rifat Akhtar Nishu, Rehena Ferdous, Roxana Nasreen, Fatema Begum, Advocate Petal Sultana, Rezwana Sharmin and advocate Rahela Begum Rekha, among others, also addressed the function.

Mohila Awami League's Chattogram North District unit President Dilwara Yusuf presided over the function while its Chattogram South District unit General Secretary Shamima Harun Lubna moderated it.

Chattogram north district AL President MA Salam, general secretary Sheikh Ataur Rahman and AL south district general secretary Mofizur Rahman, among others, spoke on the occasion.
