DHAKA, June 29, 2022 (BSS) - Ambassadors of two countries to Bangladesh separately presented their credentials to President M Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban here today.
The envoys are ambassador of Austria Katharina Wieser and ambassador of Libya Abdul Mutaleb Suliman Mohammad Suliman.
Welcoming them at Bangabhaban, President Hamid said Bangladesh maintains excellent relations with Austria and Libya.
He hoped that this relationship will be further expanded in various fields including, trade and investment in the days to come.
The head of state stressed on high-level communication and exchange of visits between the countries.
The President said Austria is one of the countries recognized Bangladesh after independence.
The President thanked the Austrian government for its cooperation on the Rohingyas issue.
Their cooperation would continue in the future for the dignified return of the Rohingyas and would continue to put pressure on Myanmar in this regard, he hoped.
President Hamid expressed his sincere gratitude to the Government of Austria for its cooperation in vaccinating Bangladesh during the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.
Abdul Hamid told the Libyan ambassador that there was ample opportunity to expand the existing excellent friendly ties in various fields, including trade and commerce.
He said Bangladesh produces world-class products, including ready-made garments (RMG), medicines, jute and leather products, and plastic materials.
Libya could get benefit from importing these products from here, the President added.
Hamid said Libya could meet their manpower needs by recruiting more skilled workers from Bangladesh in various sectors, including agriculture, information technology (IT) and health sectors.
The President said Bangladeshis working in Libya have served with devotion and sincerity even at time of crisis.
Hamid said he sought the cooperation of the new envoy to solve various problems of Bangladeshis working in Libya.
The President hoped that the new ambassadors would make sincere efforts to use every aspect of the expansion of bilateral relations during their tenure.
The newly appointed ambassadors sought full cooperation of the President in discharging their respective assignments.
Foreign Secretary Masud bin Momen, President's Office Secretary Sampad Barua and other officials concerned were present.
Earlier on their arrival at Bangabhaban, a smart contingent of the President Guard Regiment (PGR) gave the envoys guards of honour.
