DHAKA, 12 Sept, 2022 (BSS) - Under the influence of the Depression over
coastal Odisha and adjoining Northwest Bay and West central Bay, light to
moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally
wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at many places of the country,
said a Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) bulletin valid for 24-hour
commencing at 9am today.
"The Depression over coastal Odisha and adjoining Northwest Bay and West
central Bay moved west-northwestwards further over inland and lay centered
over South Madhya Pradesh and adjoining area at 6am today as a Land
Depression. It is likely to move west-northwestwards further and weaken
gradually. Under its influence Deep Convection is taking places over North
Bay and adjoining area," the bulletin added.
"The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, the centre of the Land
Depression, Odisha, and Gangetic West Bengal to Assam across southern part of
Bangladesh. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay," it
said.
Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or
squally wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at most places over
Khulna, Barishal, Dhaka and Chattogram divisions and at many places over
Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to
very heavy falls at places over the country.
Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly
unchanged over the country, the bulletin added.
Country's maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded 34.2 degrees Celsius
at Srimangal and minimum temperature today was recorded 23.8 degrees Celsius
at Cox's Bazar.
The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours till 6am today was recorded 71 mm
in Patuakhali.
The sun sets at 6.06 pm today and rises at 5.46 am tomorrow in the capital.
