BHOLA, Dec 15, 2022 (BSS) - Bir Shreshtho Mohammad Mostafa Kamal's 75th birth anniversary will be celebrated in the district tomorrow.

Shaheed Mostafa Kamal was a Sepoy in Pakistan army prior to the liberation war in 1971. He left Pakistan army and joined the Great War of Liberation in 1971 inspired by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's March 7th speech.

He was born on this day in 1947 at Hajipur village in Daulatkhan upazila of the district. Mustafa Kamal's father Habildar Md. Habibur Rahman and mother Maleka Begum. He was the eldest of 5 siblings.

On April 18 in 1971, Mohammad Mostafa Kamal was martyred in a defensive battle against the Pakistan Army in Brahmanbaria district. On that day, he fought alone and saved the lives of his comrades.

He sacrificed his life for his fellow freedom fighters who were able to escape the battle for his bravery. That is why he was awarded the highest recognition of bravery of Bangladesh, Bir Shreshtho.
