Ex-IGP Mohammad Hadis Uddin passes away

DHAKA, Aug 7, 2021 (BSS) – Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammad Hadis Uddin died of coronavirus (Covid-19) today while undergoing treatment at the city’s Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital.

Hadis breathed his last at about 12.30pm at the intensive care unit of the hospital, said a press release of the police headquarters.

He was 72.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, relatives, a host of well-wishers and admirers.

Hadis Uddin’s namaz-e-janaza was held after Asr prayers at D Block Mosque in Bashundhara residential area in the city.

The ex-IGP was laid to eternal rest at Banani graveyard after the janaza.  

Born in 1949 at Mendipur village under Khaliajuri upazila in Netrokona district, Hadis Uddin started his career joining the Bangladesh Police in 1973.

He served as the IGP of Bangladesh Police with honesty, efficiency and goodwill.

Incumbent IGP Dr Benazir Ahmed expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of ex-IGP Hadis Uddin.

In a message of condolence, he said Hadis Uddin was an honest and skilled police officer.

As an IGP, Hadis Uddin served his duties with honesty and sincerity, he said.

“We are recalling his contributions with respect,” the IGP said.

Dr Benazir prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
