JAMALPUR, Dec 31, 2022 (BSS) - Farmers got surplus production of T- Aman
(Transplanted Aman) paddy in the district this year which exceeded the
production target.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources said farmers got 3,31,341
tonnes Aman rice which is 22,047 tonnes higher than the production target.
Deputy Director, DAE, Zakia Sultana said favourable weather, implementation
of various programmes and applying fertilizer in due time behind the boost
production of T-Aman.
Farmers got 2,12,596 tonnes high yielding variety (HYV)rice from 75,927
hectares, 1,07,350 tonnes High breed variety from 28,250 hectares and 6,823
tonnes local variety from 6,823 hectares of land.
According to DAE office sources 90,070 tonnes T-Aman rice was produced from
31,000 hectares of land in Jamalpur sadar upazila while 45,873 tonnes from
15,210 hectares in Sarishabari, 48,351 tonnes from 17,060 hectares in
Melandah, 29,014 tonnes from 10,730 hectares in Islampur, 27,019 tonnes from
8,655 hectares in Dewanganj, 45,833 tonnes from 15,110 hectares in Madarganj
and 45,181 tonnes from 13,235 hectares in Bakshiganj.
