Dr Arefin for upholding Bangabandhu’s ideology as a guiding path for the nation

DHAKA, Jan 12, 2023 (BSS) – Describing the ideology and philosophy of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as the strength of Bengalis, noted academic Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique urged all to go ahead on the path shown by Bangabandhu being imbued with that philosophy and ideology.

“The ideology and philosophy of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is our strength, we should proceed on the path shown by Bangabandhu from today . . . it will be our philosophy and core driving force,” he said while speaking at a discussion, ‘Bangabandhu's Homecoming: a Day of the Fulfillment of Bengalis' Interdependence' at Jatiya Press Club here on Monday.

Mentioning that Bangabandhu showed a strong attitude to realize the people's rights through movements and struggles, Dr Arefin said Bangabandhu was greeted by millions of people when he returned to the war-torn country on January 10, 1972.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the undisputed leader of the nation and supreme commander of the country's Liberation War, returned to the sacred soil of independent Bangladesh via London and New Delhi after 290 days of captivity in Pakistan jail, he added.

Bangabandhu Parishad organized the discussion with its acting President AAMS Arefin Siddique in the chair while Science and Technology Minister Architect Yeafesh Osman, Khulna University (KU) former Vice-Chancellor and Presidium Member of Bangabandhu Parishad Professor Dr Fayek Uzzaman, Parishad General Secretary Professor ABM Faroque, Presidium Member and founding Chairman of Dhaka University (DU) Television, Film and Photography Department Professor Dr AZM Shafiul Alam Bhuiyan and Presidium Member Ajit Kumar Sarker spoke at the discussion, among others.

Yeafesh Osman urged everyone to think about how much Bangabandhu's dream has been fulfilled, which he dreamt for the 7.5 crore people.

The anti-liberation clique spread propaganda among the country’s people for 21 years, he said, adding, “Defeated enemies are not passing idle time, our first and foremost task will be to present the true picture of Bangabandhu's struggling life before the country’s people”.

The sense of patriotism and Bangabandhu's ideology should be instilled in the people, Osman added.

Other speakers said that though the country's final victory was achieved on December 16 in 1971 deafening the Pakistani occupation forces after a nine-month Liberation war, the nation's expectations were fulfilled on January 10 in 1972 with the homecoming of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The Bangalee nation fulfilled its independence through the homecoming of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. On January 10, 1972, Bangabandhu gifted a historic day to the Bengali nation by returning home, they said.
