NARAYANGANJ, Jan 14, 2023 (BSS) - Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan today said a multimodal rail hub will be built in Narayanganj to facilitate smooth transfer of passengers from one transport mode to another. 

"A multimodal rail hub will be built in Narayanganj to facilitate the movement of people using different modes of transport, so that they can easily get on train or buses after getting off launches," he told journalists at Sheikh Russel Park after visiting the work of double rail line project here.
 
The minister said that the government is thinking of constructing rail overpasses or underpasses through the city since the construction of double rail line along the city roads might cause traffic congestion.
 
Once the construction work of the double rail line is completed, 50 trips of train would be operated daily through the Dhaka-Narayanganj railway route, Sujan added.

He said that the Dhaka-Mawa railway route via Padma Bridge will be prepared for operating train by June this year.

Narayanganj City Mayor Dr Selina Hayat Ivy, city Awami League (AL) President Anwar Hossain, Organizing Secretary GM Arafat and district AL President Abdul Hai were present on the occasion, among others.
