MYMENSINGH, Jan 28, 2023 (BSS) - State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid today laid foundation stone of a three-storied Muktagacha Upazila Model Mosque and Islamic Cultural Centre on the premises of Abbasia Kamil Madrasa.

 Mayor of Muktagacha Pourasabha Billal Hossen Sarker, Upazila Parishad Chairman Abdul Hye Akandh, Upazila Nirbahi Officer AKM Lutfor Rahman, Executive Engineer PWD Quamrul Islam, Awami League Vice President of Muktagacha Upazila unit Azizul Haque, Principal of Abbasia Alia Madrasa Moulana Motiur Rahman, local Awami league leaders and activists, Alem Ulama and local elite were present.

After the laying foundation, a munajat was held for peace and prosperity of the country and eternal peace of the departed souls of Father of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members, who were brutally killed by some disgruntled army men on the dreadful night of August 15, 1975.
 
District Islamic Foundation Office sources said, Islamic Foundation and Public Works Department have jointly implementing the project at a cost of Taka 13 crore.

The project includes construction of the three storied Model Mosque, Islamic Cultural Centre, Imam Training Academy and Haj Training Centre.

Sources said there will be a separate arrangement for prayers for women in the model mosque.

Besides, the state minister separately inaugurated the annual sports competitions of Nagendra Narayan Girls High School and Nabarun Bidyaniketon as the chief guest in his daylong programme in the
upazila today.
