DHAKA, Jan 29, 2022 (BSS) - Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal today urged journalists to publish objective news reaching above any fear or threat amid any circumstances in the country.

He made the call while speaking at the installation ceremony of newly elected executive committee-2023 of Reporters Forum for Election and Democracy (RFED) at Nirbachan Bhaban here.

The CEC said mass media always play an important role in keeping balance of power of a state.

Following the next general elections, various political incidents will take place in the country in the coming days, he said, hoping that the journalists will play more responsible role in covering these incidents.

Seeking cooperation from the reporters covering the EC, Awal said the media and media workers are the mirror of a state and society.

He also urged reporters to refrain from writing misleading news over the election-centric incidents.

Election Commissioner Rasheda Sultana and RFED leaders, among others, spoke on the occasion.
