DHAKA, Jan 30, 2023 (BSS) - State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid today said the government has fixed a target to generate 2600 megawatts of electricity this year.
"Plan has been fixed to generate nearly 2600 megawatt electricity from January to December, this year as per the electricity generation plan", the state minister said replying to a query which was tabled by treasury bench lawmaker Morshed Alam in the Jatiya Sangsad here.
The present government has increased a total of 5,925-megawatt electricity so far since December 2018, said the state minister, adding "The government is implementing immediate, short, medium and long term planning for the development of the power sector by giving it the maximum importance."
Consequently, it was possible to reach electricity facilities to cent per cent of people across the country, he added.
A total of 20,980-megawatt electricity has been included in the national grid in the last 14 years, he said, adding that so, the total electricity generation capacity has been increased to 26700 megawatts.
