Taposh urges councilors to monitor developmental works

DHAKA, Feb 14, 2023 (BSS) - Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh today called upon the councilors to increase their vigilance in the ongoing infrastructure development activities including flood mitigation and implementing 
works.

He was addressing the eighteenth board meeting of the second council of the corporation, said a press release.

"Monsoon season is here again and actions have already been taken to clean our canals to avoid water-logging," said the Mayor.

"Whose areas have canals - please clean them according to your needs, contractors are appointed but sometimes they showed their negligence, so it's your duty too to keep monitoring them," he said.

Emphasizing on the supervision of drain cleaning activities to get benefits of flood relief, he said, "We have appointed contractors for cleaning all the drains from the end of February till April. 

"You must coordinate with our waste management department and the respective supervising engineers and executives and get your ward drains cleaned by contacting an engineer," he added. 

The Standing Committee on Finance and Organization has been reconstituted as per section 50 (1) of the Local Government City Corporation Act, 2009 as the tenure of 2 years and 6 months has completed.
 
The chief executive officer of South City Corporation M Mizanur Rahman, secretary Akramuzzaman, chief engineer Saleh Ahmed, general manager of transport M Haider Ali, Acting Chief Health Officer D Fazle Shamsul Kabir were present.
