DHAKA, Feb 17, 2023 (BSS) - Over 28 books on Bangabandhu, spanning multiple genres including story, poetry, essay and research, hit this year's book fair as of February 17.
Among the newly published books, 11 are essays, nine are history based books, two story based books, two compilations while the rest four are poetry books, according to the data from Bangla Academy.
The 11 books written in essay style are: 'Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahmaner Sarkar' by Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Md Tofazzel Hossen Mia, 'Bangabandhu, Bangladesh and American Donald Trump' by Ashraf Ahmed, 'Bangabandhur dake shunno theke Sadhinota' by A U S M Saifullah Fulohis, 'Kolkatay Bangabandhur Shikkhajibon o Samakalin Rajniti' by Mohammad Emdadul Hoque, 'Bangabandhu and Non-communal Bangladesh' by Dr Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury, 'Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Kriti and Kirti' by Aminur Rahman Sultan,'Sokol Jugei Prasongik Bangabandhu' by NI Ahmed Saikat, 'The Philosophy of Liberation War and Bangabandhu' by MD Sayed Mahadi Shekendar, 'Bangabandhur Antorjatik Jot-Rajniti' by Dr Mohammad Jahrul Islam, 'Bangabandhu Nadi Nouka Nari' by Dr DM Firoz Shah and Bangabandhu Banglar Jochna o Roddur by Ashfaquzzaman.
Nine books on Bangabandhu highlighting historical events are: 'Historic 7 March Speech of Bangabandhu' by Mamun Rashid, Assassination of Bangabandhu' by Akhter Uzzaman Sumon, 'The bloodshed of August 15, 1975' by Lutfar Chowdhury, Bangabandhu Hottakando o 15 august 1975 Karungatha, 'The Tragedy of August 15' by Roksana Farveen, 'What happened in one hundred minutes of August 15' by Afzalur Rahman, '15-e August Roktakto Shesrat' by Alam Ara Jui, 'The contribution of Bangabandhu and Christian Community to Liberation War' Dilip Barua and Roktakto 15-e August by Najmun Nahar.
'Stories of Bangabandhu and Russel' by Mojammel Hoque Niyogi and 'Sheikh Mujib Sheikh Russel Chotobelar Golpo' by Rofiqur Rashid are the two story-type books published for this year's book fair as of now.
Some poetry books- 'Bangabandhur Bangladesh' by Shahidur Rahman, 'Bangabandhur Joybanglar Joyutsab' by Iftekharul Alam, 'Chironjib Mujib' by Sohel Ahmed Farid and 'Bornomalar Chonde Bangabandhu' by Shilu Rahman- were also published in the book fair highlighting the life, works and significant event of the great leader.
Besides, two compilation books titled 'Chithipatra: Sheikh Mujibur Rahman' and 'Amader Bangabandhu: Nirbachito Kishorgolpo', edited by Md Enayet Karim and Sirajul Islam Munir respectively were also published.
In the book fair, two books on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina titled 'Sheikh Hasina: Shopnopuroner Sofhol Karigor' by Bibhu Ranjan Sarker and Sheikh Hasina: Progoti o Unnoyoner Alojkbortika by Rehana Sultana were published for the book fair.
This year, a total of 901 stalls have been allocated to 601 organizations. The authorities have allotted 165 stalls to 112 organizations at the Bangla Academy ground and 736 stalls to 489 organizations at the Suhrawardy Udyan.
Moreover, a total of 38 pavilions have been allocated this year along with 153 stalls at Little Magazine Chattar.
The book fair opens for all from 3 pm to 9 pm on working days and 11 am to 9 pm on public holidays with a one-hour break for lunch and prayers.
