DMP beefs up security marking Feb 21

 

DHAKA, Feb 19, 2023 (BSS) -Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Khandker Golam Faruq today said that tight security measures have been taken in the city marking the 'Shaheed Dibash' (Martyrs Day) and the International Mother Language Day on February 21.

"Security arrangements have been bolstered to ensure peaceful observance of the 'Shaheed Dibash' (Martyrs Day) and the International Mother Language Day on February 21," he told reporters while visiting the Central Shaheed Minar here.

Regarding the overall security at the Shaheed Minar, the DMP chief said the entire area from Palashi Mor to Doyel Chattar will be brought under the purview of CCTV cameras operated by the police control room.

There will be archways through which people will have to enter the Shaheed Minar and no one can carry bag or any other items while entering the Shaheed Minar, he added.
After the President and the Prime Minister, he said, people from all walks of life will come to Shaheed Minar to pay tributes to the martyrs of the country.

"For this, maximum security measures have been taken by DMP," he continued.

Dhaka University administration is also cooperating with DMP, he said, adding that the overall security measures have been divided into three parts for the smooth movement of people in and around Shaheed Minar.

In first part, DMP will ensure overall security from 6pm on February 20 to 4am on February 21, he said.

In second part, law enforcers will be vigilant from 4 am to 2 pm on February 21 while in the third part, DMP will ensure security from 2 pm to 10 pm on February 21, he added.
