Attackers of state's spirit is still active: Hasan

DHAKA, Feb 23, 2023 (BSS) - Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said the vested quarter that attacked the altar of the state's spirit is active till now and some time they try to destroy communal harmony using social platforms.

"The group who attacked the altar of the spirit of the state is active till now. Everyone should remain alert against them," he told the 188th birthday of Sri Ram Krishna and 125th founding anniversary of Ramakrishna Mission at Ramakrishna Math and Mission in city's Tikatuli.

Principal of the mission Swami Purnatmananda (Eds: correct) fellows were present.

Hasan said the state was created with the bloodshed of all religious people including Hindu, Muslims, Buddha and Christian under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to establish the equal rights of all people.

But, he said, the altar of the spirit of equality was stabbed through the killing of Bangabandhu along with most of his family members on August 15 in 1975.

He said Bangabandhu's daughter Jananethri Sheikh Hasina, after 21 years of the incident, has started the work of bringing the state back to the original spirit of independence after getting the responsibility of running the country. But the work is ongoing till now as the vested group is still active, said Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary.

He said, "Our first identity is that we are Bangalee irrespective of castes, creeds and religions. One group does not accept this and they are also in a dilemma whether they are Bangalee or Bangladeshi. They want to destroy religious harmony."

He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has allocated money and new places for the Ramakrishna Mission and school of the mission is funded by the government. The Awami League government is always beside all faiths, he added.

But the scenario will be changed if the people try to destroy religious harmony get the chance of running the state, he said.

Urging the Hindu community to be vocal for their rights, Hasan said, "You (the Hindu community) are the sons of the soil and the country. The soil belongs to your ancestors. You must be vocal in protecting your rights, and if necessary, stand up against evil forces as the Awami League government is standing by to protect your rights."

Later, a religious cultural function was held.
