RAJSHAHI, Feb 25, 2023 (BSS)- Around 4,000 people, particularly the slum-
dwelling ones, are getting benefits related to communication and sanitation
like urban people as a result of need-based infrastructure improvement in
Charghat Pourasabha in the district.
Different kinds of development works, including road, drainage, toilet,
dustbin and solar lighting were implemented with interventions of the slum
development project.
Ekramul Haque, mayor of Charghat Pourasabha, told BSS that they implemented
the project costing around Taka 10.90 crore supported by the Financial
Institutions Division of the government and Asian Development Bank (ADB).
"We have constructed 22-kilometer roads, 14 toilets, 47 solar lights and
dustbins at many of the road crossings for collecting wastes in 14 slum
communities," he added.
Pourasabha Mayor Haque said the improved facilities are contributing a lot
towards socio-economic conditions of the beneficiary people together with
boosting their level of confidence.
Monsur Rahman, a resident of ward number 5, said they had to suffer a lot due
to water stagnant on the road caused by rainfall in the previous time. But at
present, their problems have been removed by dint of road and drainage
construction.
As a whole, their community-level communication has been eased due to the
infrastructural development, he added.
