DHAKA, Feb 26, 2023 (BSS) - Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin today said Bangladesh, an innocent victim of climate change, earnestly has been striving for shifting its vulnerability towards resilience to the prosperity under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He said Bangladesh has successfully engaged itself with the global community in the fight against climate change playing the lead role in several international forums.
The minister made these remarks when Professor Jean-Pascal van Ypersele of Belgium, former Vice-Chair of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), met him at his secretariat office here.
Deputy Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Habibun Nahar, Environment Secretary Dr Farhina Ahmed, Additional Secretary (Admin) Iqbal Abdullah Harun and Additional Secretary (Climate Change) Md Moniruzzaman were present.
Shahab Uddin said Bangladesh appreciates Belgium as well as the European Union for the decade-long support to Bangladesh in combating the adverse impacts of climate change and protecting the nature and environment.
“We are looking forward to work closely with Belgium in the endeavor of addressing the adverse impacts of climate change and building a climate resilient green world,” he said.
