DHAKA, March 4, 2023 (BSS) – Two people suffered severe burn injuries as an air conditioner (AC) exploded at the 4th floor of a six storey building in Niketan Society area in the city's Gulshan-2 area around 6.25 am today.

 "The victims were identified as Gopal Mallik, 29, and Mizan, 29, were admitted to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (SHNIBPS) around 7.30 am in a serious condition," said Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) Police Camp Officer-in-charge (OC) Md Bacchu Mia.

 Dr SM Aiyub Hossain, a residential Medical officer (RMO) of SHNIBPS confirmed the matter saying that, "one of the victims, Gopal Mallik sustained 100 percent burn and is in critical condition. The other person sustained minor injuries."

 Locals and fire service unit officials suspected that the explosion might have been caused by electric short circuit.
