DHAKA, March 31, 2023 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has recovered around 64 thousand yaba tablets from Kanchan Bridge area under Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj district yesterday and arrested six drug paddlers in this connection.

The arrestees are- Md Mainuddin, 28, Sohagh, 20, Jawad, 24, Shahriar Rabbi, 32, Shaon, 21, and Md Rana, 25.

Confirming the matter to BSS, RAB-1 senior assistant superintendent of police Noman Ahmed said they recovered a total of 63,765 yaba tablets hidden inside CNG cylinders of two cars driven by the arrestees.

The estimated cost of seized drugs is Taka 1.93 crore.

"Acting on a tip-off, RAB-1 team set up check posts in front of Tin Konna Hotel in Kanchan Bridge area in Rupganj upazila on Thursday afternoon. At around 5.30 pm, we stopped two cars and found these huge number of yaba tablets inside the CNG cylinders of those two vehicles," the RAB official said.

The arrestees in primary interrogation confessed being the members of drug paddler gang. They collected the yaba tablets from Cox's Bazar and put those inside the gas tanks of their vehicles at a motor garage and welded from outside. RAB said the same gang members have confessed of bringing five to six consignments of yaba tablets in the capital in the same way.
