DHAKA, Aug 17, 2021 (BSS)- Freedom fighter Matiur Rahman Moti passed away due to old-age complications at his residence in Azampur area of Moddho- Dakshin Khan in the city at around 12.10 pm today.
He was 85.
Dakshin Khan Thana Awami League Organizing Secretary Mohsin Sarkar confirmed the matter to BSS.
Matiur Rahman, also greater Uttara Thana Muktijoddha Commander, left behind three sons, two daughters and a host of relatives to mourn his death.
The freedom fighter was buried at his family graveyard in the central Azampur area of Dakshin Khan in the capital with state honor following a namaz-e-janaza after Asr prayers on Azampur Nawab Habibullah School and College ground today, said Matiur Rahman's son Nuruzzaman.
"My father was in jail along with the national four leaders," he added.
Awami League leaders of greater Uttara Thana expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Matiur Rahman Moti.
They prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
