Cancellation of Prothom Alo's declaration demanded

DHAKA, April 6, 2023 (BSS) - People belongings to different organisations and professions including teachers, journalists, writers, poets and artists today staged demonstrations against 'Prothom Alo' for publishing news story using a child's picture with wrong statements, ridiculing the Liberation War.

The procession held at the Central Shaheed Miner this morning under the banner of 'Swadhinota Socheton Nagorik Somaj', they demanded cancellation of Prthom Alo's declaration and taking stern action against the conspirators who ridiculed the Liberation War.

The speakers at the protest rally said running story using a photo card containing picture of a 10-year-old boy with comments of other person on the Independence Day is ill-motivated, which is also a part of their conspiracy against country's independence and sovereignty.

The protest rally, began with the performance of the National Anthem led by valiant freedom fighter and noted singer of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra Manoranjan Ghosal.

Artiste Dr. Shahadat Hossain Nipu conducted it.

Asaduzzaman Noor, MP, poet and former senior secretary Kamal Abdul Nasser Chowdhury, Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman, DU Teachers Association President Dr Nizamul Hoque Bhuijan, General Secretary Professor Zeenat Huda, former VC of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Dr Kamrul Hasan and Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee president Shahriar Kabir, among others, attended the protest rally.

Advocate Moshiur Malek, Directors' Guild General Secretary SM Kamruzzaman Sagor, Convener of Jatiya Olama Somaj Abdul Halim Siraji, Actor Tarin Jahan and Artiste Riaz Uddin Ahamed Siddique also take part in the programme.

 Biswabhora Pran, Dhaka University Mime Brigade, Boitoroni, Bangabandhu Abritti Parishad, Bangladesh Shishu Sangathan Oikko Jote, Bicchu Bahini, Brittanto'71 Foundation, Slogan 71, Joy Bangla Sangskritik Jote, Slogan'71, Sompriti Bangladesh, Banglar Mukh, Jatiya Olama Somaj and Roudro Koroti.
