RIYADH, April 13, 2023 (BSS/AFP) - Saudi Arabia and Syria have discussed "the necessary steps" to end Damascus's diplomatic isolation in the Arab world since the outbreak of civil war in the country in 2011, the Saudi foreign ministry said Wednesday.
 
  A meeting of the top diplomats of each country aimed to achieve a "national reconciliation" in Syria that would help "bring back Syria to its Arab fold", the ministry said in a statement.
 
  Syria's foreign minister arrived in Saudi Arabia on the first such trip since the outbreak of the country's civil war in 2011, state news agency SANA reported.
   "Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad and an accompanying delegation arrived in the city of Jeddah... for a working visit at the invitation of Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, to hold talks on bilateral relations... and issues of common concern," SANA said.
