SHERPUR, Aug 20, 2021 (BSS) - State Minister for Information and
Broadcasting Md Murad Hassan today said Khondaker Mostaq Ahmad and
Ziaur Rahman were the masterminds behind the assassination Father of
the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as they had organised the
killers.

   "Khondaker Mostaq and Major Ziaur Rahman were the masterminds
behind the killing of Bangabandhu on August 15 in 1975. They organised
the killers and carried out the assassination," he told a meeting at
Shilpakala Academy in Sherpur.

  The meeting was arranged to distribute cheques of the prime minister
assistance among 46 journalists who were hit hard by the ongoing
coronavirus pandemic.

  Speaking as the chief guest, Murad said the posthumous trial of BNP
founder Ziaur Rahman must be held in the country and it is now a
matter of time.

  He asked convicted senior vice-chairman of BNP Tarique Rahman to
take to streets to do politics by quitting the anti-government and
anti-state activities sitting in London.

  Referring to the recent political changeover in Afghanistan, the
state minister said when the Taliban came to power, the
anti-liberation forces were spreading propaganda on social media.

   "But their dream will never come true. The people of Bangladesh
believe in non-communal spirit," he added.

  Chaired by Deputy Commissioner of Sherpur Mominur Rashid, the
function was addressed, among others, by whip Md Atiur Rahman Atik,
superintendent of police Hasan Nahid Chowdhury, municipality mayor
Golam Kibria Liton and Sherpur Press Club president Sharifur Rahman.
