Shahriar for high-level visits between Bangladesh, Korea 

DHAKA, May 18, 2023 (BSS) - State minister for foreign affairs Md Shahrirar Alam has stressed on the exchange of high-level visits between Bangladesh and South Korea to tap full potential of the existing bilateral relations between the two nations. 

He made the remark when Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Bangladesh Lee Jang-keun made a farewell call on him at his office on Wednesday, a Foreign Ministry press release said here today. 

During the meeting, they exchanged views on furthering the bilateral cooperation in the sectors of trade and investment, skilled labour, connectivity, Indo Pacific, high level visits and people to people contact.

The envoy highlighted on four major milestones that have been achieved during his tenure in Bangladesh. 

These are: increase of bilateral trade (from USD 1.5 billion to USD 3 billion), ODA (from USD 700 million to USD 3 billion), EPS Workers (from 1,500 to 10,000 per year) and FDI (USD 1.4 billion in 2022), said the release.

He also expressed his satisfaction for the ongoing Dhaka-Seoul direct flight and the inauguration of the assembling plants of two Korean giant companies - Hyundai and Samsung in Bangladesh.

The state minister expressed his happiness over the ongoing development activities between the two countries.
