DHAKA, May 19, 2023 (BSS) - Awami League (AL) Organizing Secretary Mirza Azam today said BNP founder military dictator Ziaur Rahman had hatched conspiracies to eliminate Awami League. 

"Awami League leaders and activists couldn't stay at home when BNP was in state power," he told a peace rally as the chief guest in the city`s Jatrabari area. 

Dhaka City South Unit of Jubo League organized the rally. 
Mirza Azam said Ziaur Rahman was one of major planners of the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

During the BNP-Jamaat regime from 2001-2006, AL's many leaders and workers, including Ahsanullah Master and Shah AMS Kibria were killed brutally. 

He also said during the BNP-Jamaat regime, gruesome grenade attacks were carried out on August 21 in 2004 with an attempt to assassinate the then Opposition Leader Sheikh Hasina. 

Turning to the incumbent government's development works, the AL leader said the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working relentlessly for the development of the country.

But, BNP-Jamaat clique is hatching conspiracy against the present government, he said. 

The world leaders are lauding Sheikh Hasina for her dynamic leadership, he said. 

Kazi Monirul Islam Monu, MP, and Jubo League General Secretary Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil addressed the rally with acting President of Dhaka City South Unit of Jubo League Main Uddin Rana in the chair.

Dhaka City South Unit of Jubo League acting General Secretary H.M. Rezaul Karim Reza moderated the rally.
