Green TV launched: Speaker for portraying true history of Liberation War 

DHAKA, May 19, 2023(BSS) - Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury today called upon  the Green TV authority to uphold the true history of the country’s Liberation War. 

She was addressing as the chief guest the gala launching ceremony of Green TV at Basundhara International Convention Center. 

Green TV started its journey as a satellite television channel with formal transmission at 6pm today after the end of test transmission. 

It is an initiative of industrial entrepreneur group Rangdhanu. 

The speaker hoped that the new channel, which began its journey with the theme “Tomar Chokhe Biswa Dekhi” will present something new through different diversified and qualitative programmes. 

“I believe, this television channel will present true history of the Liberation War to the new generation,” she said. 

Earlier, while announcing the inauguration of the TV channel, Information and Broadcasting Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud said private run television channel began journey at the hand of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in 1996. 

“Our government believes in independent flourishing of media as the progress of the state and society is connected with it,” he said. 

The minister said the government is doing everything as the media can play its role properly. 

“Media is working independently in Bangladesh. So, the necessity of playing responsible role also increases along with freedom of press,”  he said. 

Addressing the function, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan extended greetings and congratulations to Green TV. 

Rangdhanu Group Chairman Rafiqul Islam, Bangladesh Satellite Company Chairman Shahjahan Mahmud, Green Multimedia Limited Chairperson Nafisa Jumaina Mahmud, former IGP Benazir Ahmed,  FBCCI Vice-President Amin Helali addressed it, among others. A magnum size cake was cut on the occasion. 

Later, a colorful cultural function was also held.
