DHAKA, May 22, 2023 (BSS) - Information and Broadcasting Minister and Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud today said none will be allowed to do politics of killings and create the 1975-like incident anymore in the country.

"Many conspiracies were hatched during the period of Bangabandhu too. Bangabandhu was assassinated when the perpetrators had failed to face him politically," Dr Hasan said.
 
He was addressing as the chief guest a demonstration in protest against the threat of killing Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in front of Mohammadpur Town Hall in the city this afternoon. The Dhaka City North unit of AL organised the rally.
 
Lawmaker Sadek Khan, Dhaka North AL President Bazlur Rahman, Organizing Secretary Azizul Haque Rana and leaders of different ward units spoke on the occasion with Mohammadpur AL President MA Sattar in the chair.
 
He said now opponents of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, anti-liberation forces and anti-development forces want to assassinate Sheikh Hasina as they failed to face her politically and it was accidentally disclosed by their Rajshahi district unit convener.
 
"None will be allowed to do politics of killings in the country. Awami League remains prepared. None will be allowed to create situations like '1975' anymore. I am asking our leaders and workers to burn the hands which will carry bombs to hurl," he said.
 
Dr Hasan said the countrymen is frightened and even the US Embassy has become frightened as the BNP is doing politics of killings, giving the threat of killing, carrying out attacks on police and vandalizing vehicles.

Now the US has alerted its citizens due to the ill-politics of the BNP, he said, adding that today the BNP wants to make people frightened by doing ill-politics.
 
"The BNP should not be allowed anymore to play the game of making people frightened. We will have to stay in the streets," he said.
 
He said AL is a party which came to today's position by making struggles and movements on the streets.
 
"Bangabandhu's blood is flowing in the veins of our leader, Sheikh Hasina. This blood doesn't know how to compromise and this blood marches ahead, defying all threats," he said.
 
About today's demonstration, the AL joint general secretary said AL was holding a peace rally in protest against the BNP's evil efforts to create disorder.
 
"But today we are holding a protest rally as the BNP's Rajshahi district convener in his address on Friday last gave death threat to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina," he said.
 
The minister said Ziaur Rahman grasped the state power through the assassination of Bangabandhu.
 
Zia sustained his staying in power by killing a huge number of army personnel and 22,000 leaders and workers of AL, he mentioned.
 
Dr Hasan said Ziaur Rahman's wife Begum Khaleda Zia also did the politics of killings.
 
At the directives of Khaleda Zia and her son Tarique Rahman, gruesome grenade attacks were carried out on August 21, 2004, he said.
 
"BNP and militant groups killed people by launching attacks on our rallies in different places," he said.
 
In 2013-2014-2015 period, they killed innocent people by carrying out arson attacks, he said.
 
"So, the BNP does politics of killings. They cannot come out of this politics. They and anyone will not be allowed anymore to do politics of killings in the country," he said.
