DHAKA, August 22, 2021 (BSS)- State Minister for Culture KM Khalid said that Bangabandhu was killed along with his family in a direct plot hatched by Pakistan's defeated forces and Ziaur Rahman.

"Besides Zia, a section of JASAD and Bhasani NAP leaders also prepared the ground for the killing...We hope that an independent commission will be formed soon to identify the masterminds and plotters of Bangabandhu's assassination," Khalid said while addressing a virtual discussion meeting today, said a release.

The meeting was organized by the Ministry of Culture on the occasion of 46th Martyrdom Anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day-2021.

Khalid also said, "August is the month of mourning. This month has witnessed the worst massacre in the history of the world."

"With Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's strong leadership, it was possible to conduct the trial of the assassins of Bangabandhu. Soon, the masterminds behind the plan of the murders will be brought to law," he added.

Dr. Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, Chief Coordinator, National Implementation Committee of Celebration of the Birth Centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, addressed the function as the chief guest, under the chairmanship of Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Md. Abul Mansur.

Besides, Director General of Bangla Academy Poet Muhammad Nurul Huda also addressed the meeting, added the release.

Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Culture Sabiha Parveen made an introductory speech on the occasion.

Dr. Shihab Shahriar, Keeper of Bangladesh National Museum, conducted the function.
