SIRAJGANJ, June 2, 2023 (BSS) - Deputy Minister for Water Resources AKM Enamul Hoque Shameem today said that BNP is engaged in anti-state conspiracies to come to the power.
"BNP siphoned off the country's money abroad to stay in power and hurled petrol bombs to kill people. Staying out of power for long, they have become desperate in hatching various conspiracies to get to power," he said.
The deputy minister said these while addressing the inauguration ceremony of the project titled 'River Bank Protection' to protect the banks of the river from Khashpukuria in Chauhali upazila to Char-Salimabad of Sirajganj.
They are constantly engaged in anti-national conspiracy, Shameem said, adding: "But BNP will not get any benefit as the people of this country will bring Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's worthy daughter Sheikh Hasina back to power again to build a smart Bangladesh."
Noting that this year's proposed budget will play an appropriate role in building Smart Bangladesh of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to build Bangabandhu's dream of Sonar Bangla, he said this budget will help the country turnaround from the crisis.
In the last three years, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war has hit Bangladesh like other countries around the world, he added.
To make the country's economy dynamic by overcoming the negative impact of the economic recession, he said the newly proposed budget is very time-befitting.
About the government's endeavors to prevent river erosion, he said due to the pragmatic steps taken by the ruling government, the overall river erosion in the country has gone down.
He hoped that most of the river erosion and water logging will decrease in the country in next few years.
Pointing out at the officials concerned, he said the works of the projects must be done within stipulated time maintaining its standards and quality.
"No negligence, irregularity and corruption will be tolerated to this end," he continued.
With Sirajganj Deputy Commissioner Mir Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman in the chair, the programme was attended, among others, by lawmakers Abdul Momin Mondol and Ahasanul Islam Titu.
