DHAKA, June 2, 2023 (BSS) - Information and Broadcasting Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud today expressed deep shock at the death of Chattogram-10 lawmaker and former primary and mass education minister Dr Afsarul Amin.

In a condolence message, he prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

"Dr Afsarul Amin has fulfilled his duty to the country till his death," he added.

In the current period, Amin was serving as the chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Education and Vice President of Chittagong City unit of Awami League, he said.

Dr Afsarul Amin died while undergoing treatment at a city hospital this afternoon. He was 72. Amin had long been suffering from cancer.
