SANGSAD BHABAN, June 8, 2023 (BSS) - Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister M Tajul Islam today said the Dhaka WASA is now supplying 275-285 crore liters drinking water daily while city’s regular water demand is 260-265 crore liters.

The LGRD Minister said this while responding to a query by Jatiya Party lawmaker from Dhaka-4 Syed Abu Hossain at the question-answer session tabled in the Jatiya Sangsad with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.

“Dhaka WASA is now producing surplus water with a daily production of 275-285 crore liters of water against city’s demand of 260-265 crore liters in a day during last one decade under “Gure Darao Dhaka WASA” programme”, he told the parliament.
 
Of the total city’s water demand, the actual water demand under the North City Corporation areas is nearly 135 crore liters while daily water demand under the South City Corporation areas is nearly 125 crore liters.

But the net water demand varied during the summer and the winter season, he said.
