RANGPUR, June 13, 2023 (BSS) - Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina showed zero tolerance against corruption aimed at building 'Sonar Bangla' just as Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
"The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is also working with zero tolerance to make the country free from corruption in order to fulfill the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman," said ACC Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the six-hour public hearing organized by the ACC at the District Shilpokola Academy auditorium in the city this afternoon.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Chitralekha Nazneen moderated the event participated by representatives of various government departments, institutions and organizations, civil society members, complainants, journalists and common people.
ACC Director General (Prevention) Md Akhter Hossain, Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Md Habibur Rahman, Bangladesh Police Rangpur Range Deputy Inspector General Mohd Abdul Alim Mahmud, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Nure Alam Mina, Superintendent of Police Md Ferdous Ali Chowdhury, ACC Rangpur Divisional Director Mohammad Abdul Karim, Anti-Corruption Committee Rangpur District President heroic freedom fighter Shushanto Chandra Khan and its General Secretary heroic freedom fighter Akbar Hossain were present.
Mahbub said the ACC job is to provide service as a government institution and it works to ensure that services. ACC does not disparage any person or organization, he added.
"The ACC verifies whether it is performing its duties properly, based on complaints and through public hearings," he said, adding that the government had adopted an integrity policy in 2012.
Integrity award is given to those service providers who perform their duties properly and provide timely service to the service recipients with transparency and accountability.
"And those who do not perform their duties properly, if the ACC comes to know about them, their problems are identified and necessary measures are taken," he mentioned.
During the public hearing, the ACC Secretary directed the heads of the accused service providers to take immediate action if their statements or initiatives were not satisfactory based on the complaints.
Besides, he instructed the ACC officials to monitor whether the complaints raised in the public hearing were resolved quickly or not.
