Vested quarter continues propaganda over next polls: Faruk Khan

GOPALGANJ, June 23, 2023 (BSS) - Awami League (AL) Presidium Member Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) Muhammad Faruk Khan today said that a vested quarter is spreading propaganda over the upcoming 12th general elections amid the excitement of the masses.

"Bangladesh is facing lots of challenges as the national election is approaching. Therefore, around the election, a clique is spreading propaganda inside and outside Bangladesh," he said, talking to journalists after placing wreath at Mausoleum of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Tungipara on behalf of AL executive committee.

The AL leader said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given three instructions regarding the elections.

The first directive is to strengthen the party (AL) organizationally from the grassroots level to the central level forgetting all the differences, he mentioned.

Referring to the second instruction, he said AL men must go every voter's house at union and ward levels. 

"They (voters) should be informed that BNP has committed torture, militancy, terrorist activities and corruption and killed thousands of people in the country," he added.

About the third directive, Faruq Khan said that the people should be reminded of the ongoing development activities of the last 14 years, including Padma Bridge, Bangabandhu Tunnel and Metro rail.

They (people) should be reminded about the provision of allowances for the people, provision of food to one crore people in distress through VGD and TCB, he said, adding that they should be remained that AL always stands by its people.

He hoped that after knowing these, the people will re-elect the AL-backed candidates by exercise their franchise again in the next election.

Awami League Organizing Secretary SM Kamal, Lawmaker Iqbal Hossain Apu and Gopalganj District unit Awami League President Mahbub Ali Khan were present there, among others.
