Nasrul for continuing steps for uninterrupted energy supply

DHAKA, June 25, 2023 (BSS) - State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid today said initiatives have to be continued by facing all challenges to ensure uninterrupted energy supply in the country.

He said this while addressing the Annual Performance Agreement (APA) signing ceremony with the Energy Division and its subordinate entities as the chief guest at Bidyut Bhaban.

Nasrul Hamid said the size of economy of Bangladesh has increased while energy is important for the economy, adding, “Energy sector officials are behind the success power sector. So, it is a must to have uninterrupted supply of energy.”

He said the APA target includes exploration of new gas wells, drilling of new and workover wells, gas production, import of LNG and fuel oil, installation of gas and oil transmission pipelines, formulation of laws, rules and policies.

“With those targets, the pace of work of the division has expanded and the APA is accelerating the process of uninterrupted energy supply in the country,” the state minister said.

Energy Division Secretary Md Khairuzzaman Majumdar presided over the function, while Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) Chairman Md Nurul Amin, Petrobangla Chairman Janendra Nath Sarkar, Bangladesh Petroleum Institute (BPI) Acting Director General Khenchan, Hydrocarbon Unit Director General Tahmina Yasmin, Department of Exclusive- chief inspector Moha Nayeb Ali, Geological Survey of Bangladesh (GSB) Director General Mohammad Ilias Hossain, Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) Director Khaled Ahmed and all heads of departments and organizations were present.
