DHAKA, Aug 25, 2021 (BSS) - The Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) of police, in a drive, today arrested an active member of the banned militant outfit Ansar Al Islam from Jagannathpur village area of Moulvibazar Sadar Model Police Station in Moulvibazar district.

The arrestee was identified as Md Azizur Rahman Jahin,18, son of Md Ataur Rahman Jagannathpur village, a press release said.

An elite force of ATU nabbed him at around 4 am today, the release added.

The arrested and his accomplices regularly met at secret places in different parts of Moulvibazar district and continued to propagate the extremist ideology of Ansar Al Islam online, the release continued.

The law enforces also recovered one android mobile phone, two SIM cards and a large quantity of extremist books, training and strategy manuals, soft copies of leaflets, preserved videos, printed books and books from his possession.

A case was filed in this connection.
