BFUJ mourns death of journalist leader MA Quddus

DHAKA, July 15, 2023 (BSS) - Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) today expressed deep shock at the death of journalist leader and eminent cartoonist MA Quddus.

BFUJ president Omar Faruque and acting secretary general Sheikh Mamunur Rashid, in a condolence message, prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.

With his demise, the nation has lost a protester-cartoonist and this loss will not be replenished soon, they said.

MA Quddus was an uncompromising soldier of the movement for journalists' bread and butter, they added.

The BFUJ leaders said Quddus had struggled forever and he was very honest and lived a very simple life.

"We have lost a tireless co-fighter," they added.

MA Quddus, also the senior vice-president of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ), died of cardiac arrest this morning at his rented house in city's Nakhalpara area at the age of 53.

He worked for Daily Sangbad, Daily Ittefaq and other media houses.

Hailing from Rajbari district, he obtained his MFA degree from the University of Dhaka.

He is survived by his wife, one daughter, a host of relatives and well wishers.
