New Navy chief pays homage to Bangabandhu 

DHAKA, July 25, 2023 (BSS) - Newly appointed Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral M Nazmul Hassan today paid homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing a floral wreath at Bangabandhu's portrait in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmodi-32 in the city.

He also paid glowing tributes to the memories of 1971 martyrs from the armed forces members by placing another floral wreath at Shikha Anirban (the Eternal Flame) at Dhaka Cantonment here and signed the visitors book, said an ISPR press release here. 

Earlier, in the presence of Prime Minister's Security Affairs Adviser Major General (retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique, Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Shaikh Abdul Hannan adorned the new naval chief with the rank badge of vice-admiral at a function at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) here in the morning.

After adoring with the rank badge, Tarique Ahmed Siddique congratulated the new Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral M Nazmul Hassan. 

Nazmul Hasan, on behalf of the Bangladesh Navy, expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Security Affairs Adviser Major General (retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique. 

Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister M Tofazzel Hossain Miah, Armed Forces Division (AFD) Principal Staff Officer Lieutenant General Waker-Uz-Zaman, Military Secretary to the Prime Minister Major General Kabir Ahammad and principal staff officers of the Navy Headquarters were present at the function.
 
Later, a guard of honour was given to new Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral M Nazmul Hassan when he reached at the Navy headquarters.

 He took salute and inspected the guard.

Principal staff officers of the navy headquarters, directors of all departments and senior military and civil officials were present at the guard of honor giving ceremony.
