DHAKA, July 28, 2023 (BSS) - Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places and at a few places at particular areas in the country.

"Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over the country", said a met office forecast for the next 24 hours begins from 9am today.

Day and night temperature may rise slightly over the country.

The Well-marked low over South Odisha and adjoining North Andhra Pradesh has weakened into a low pressure area and now lies over North Odisha and adjoining area. The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, the center of the low, Gangetic West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh.

Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.
Country's highest temperature on Thursday was recorded by 36.5 degree Celsius at Rajshahi and minimum temperature today was recorded by 22.0 degree Celsius at Rangamati.

Country's maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6am today was recorded by 43 millimeters (mm) Sitakunda.

The sun sets at 6:44 pm today and rises at 5.26 am tomorrow in the capital.
