Harun entertained the guest with the items of mutton, chicken, different types of fish curries, vegetables and seasonal fruits.
With patient gesture, the DB chief later dropped BNP leader Gayeshwar to his Nayapaltan party office by a police vehicle after the lunch.
Police had taken Gayeshwar Chandra Roy into their custody rescuing him from a clash between the BNP activists and police in Old Dhaka's Dholaikhal area.
Harun, also the DMP Additional Commissioner, said that BNP leader Gayeshwar Chandra Roy fell down on the road during the clash when BNP activists indiscriminately were throwing brickbats on police.
Police rescued him and brought to the DB office, as he suffered injuries during the skirmish, Harun told BSS.
The DB chief said police gave BNP permission for rally and other programmes as part of their agitation, but not any such programme like sit-in on road causing disruption of traffic movement.
Unruly BNP activists set fire on police vehicles, buses and vandalized many motor cycles. They also exploded crude bombs and threw brickbats on police in different points.
Harun said, at least 20 police sustained injuries during the clash.
The DMP issued section 144 to keep traffic around Dhaka city normal. But defying the section 144 BNP activists unleashed anarchic activities, Harun said.
