MYMENSINGH, Aug 3, 2023 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced six people to death sentence and two others to life-term imprisonment for murdering a man in 2018. 

Additional District and Sessions Judge Sabrina Ali handed down the verdict. 

The convicts awarded death sentence are Mobarok Member, Tofazzel Hossain, Rubel Mia, Selim, Shohag and Edris Ali.

The convicts who got life-term imprisonment are Mofazzel Hossain Rubel and Dulal Mia.

The court also fined each of the convicts awarded death sentence Tk 50000 and convicts got life term Tk 20000. If they are unable to pay the amount they will have to serve more three months in jail.

According to the prosecution on July 3 in 2018, Mothbari Union Awami League President and veteran freedom fighter Abdul Motin Master left his home for his fish farm. Later, people recovered his floating body on the next day in the fisheries. 

Following the murder, Abdul Motin's son filed a case accusing a few unnamed people. Police pressed the charge sheet on February 25 in 2019 accusing eight people.
