DHAKA, Aug 7, 2023 (BSS) - Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today said Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib's countless contributions played pivotal role to making father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as Bangabandhu.

"Bangamata played role in a number of ways as she always had been inspiring and giving instructions to us along with playing crucial role in heartening Bangabandhu to pen the drafts of three invaluable autobiographic books which would always remain as precious asset in the history of Bangladesh," said Asaduzzaman.
 
The minister was addressing as chief guest at the logo and website unveiling ceremony of the film 'Bangabandhur Renu' based on the life and works of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib (Renu) at Nalini Kanta Bhattasali Gallery of National museum this evening.

Former Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique addressed it as chief discussant while Freedom Fighter Shahabuddin Ahmed and former lawmaker Prof. Abdul Mannan spoke as special guest.

Chaired by Awami League Executive member and president of Hasumani's Pathshala Marufa Akhtar Popi, the programme was also addressed by Filmmaker Morshedul Islam and Chairman of Jagannath University Film and Television Prof. Junayed Halim.

Asaduzzaman said, "When Bangabandhu was in prison, Bangamata visited him each time with a notebook and pen. That is why we got various books including 'The Unfinished Memoiries' and 'Prison Diaries'.
 
Describing his own experience, the Home Minister said, "While Bangabandhu was in prison, Bangamata told us that you should intensify the agitation.

Then he will be released quickly which was proof of her visionary thinking".

 "Our student leaders used to go to Bangmata for advice", he said, adding, "Before March 7 speech of Bangabandhu, Bangmata asked him to say exactly what his heart says and Bangabandhu did the same keeping all the slips, notes and papers under his glasses".

Former Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique said several Awami League leaders was willing to accept Bangabandhu's release on parole while the trial of the Agartala case was underway and Bangabandhu was in prison, an idea that was strongly opposed by Bangamata who wanted his unconditional release.
 
Prof Arefin, also chairman of the board of directors of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), said if Bangabandhu had come out accepting parole conditions, no fierce mass movement would have been sparked forcing the then Pakistani junta to abandon the case, freeing the accused.

If Bangabandhu got released on parole, Bangladesh would have never witnessed its independence, he added.
 
Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib was the source of inspiration for Bangabandhu but she herself was behind the scenes, he said, adding: "Bangamata provided financial support to party leaders and activists while Bangabandhu was in prison, though she was also in crisis financially".

Freedom Fighter artist Shahabuddin Ahmed said, "There has been a renaissance in Bengal during the reign of Raja Rammohan Roy. But the renaissance of east Bengal came in 1971 by the hand of Bangabandhu".

Bangamata was always behind Bangabandhu with support like Begum Rokeya's husband, he added.

The events of unveiling the logo and website of the film 'Bangabandhur Renu' organised by Hasumonir Pathshala. The logo of the film 'Bangabandhur Renu', was designed by Sanjeev Das and the website was designed by Debashish Biswas Pavel.
