DHAKA, Aug 10, 2023 (BSS) - Parliamentary Standing Committee on Local Government, Rural Development (LGRD) and Cooperatives today recommended the government taking stern action against the contractors of the rural development schemes who kept their work abeyance midway without any valid reason.
The standing committee made the recommendation in a meeting held at Sangsad Bhaban with chairman of the committee Nurul Islam Nahid in the chair, a release said.
The committee also recommended cancellation of the work order of the contactors for their dilly dallying attitude in implementing the rural development schemes.
Members of the committee- LGRD minister Tajul Islam, state minister Swapan Bhattacharjee, Md Moshiur Rahman Ranga, Md Shah E Alam and Md Sanowar Hossain were present.
The committee also asked the concerned authorities to verify the capacity of the contractors before awarding the work-order of the rural development schemes.
The committee asked the departments under the ministry for preparing the list of long-pending works and placing the list in the next meeting.
