UGC signs performance agreements with 21 more public universities

DHAKA, Aug 28, 2021 (BSS) - The University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh today signed Annual Performance Agreements (APA) with 21 more public universities of the country for the fiscal year 2021-2022.

In the second phase, the signing ceremony was held at the UGC auditorium in the city under the Performance Management Framework Policy of the government, said a release today.  

In the first phase on August 28, UGC signed APA with 25 public universities, read the release.

The APA has been introduced to enhance transparency and accountability in government activities, ensure proper utilization of resources, and improve institutional capacity.

UGC Secretary and the registrars of the universities concerned signed the agreements on behalf of their respective sides.
UGC chairman Prof Dr Kazi Shahidullah addressed as chief guest with UGC member and convener of APA Team Prof. Dr Md Abu Taher in the chair.

Addressing the function digitally, UGC Chairman Prof Dr Kazi Shahidullah said UGC has been working to ensure the overall progress of higher education, transparency, accountability, and encourage outcome-based activities.

UGC members Prof Dr Dil Afroza Begum, Prof Md Sazzad Hossain, Prof Dr Muhammed Alamgir, Prof Dr Biswajit Chanda, and Prof Md Abu Taher addressed as special guests.  

The UGC has been signing APAs with public universities since the 2016-17 fiscal year, said a release.
