LAKSHMIPUR, Aug 23, 2023 (BSS) - Former member of parliament (MP) of Jatiya Party Mohammad Ullah died after being hit by a speeding motorcycle on the Dhaka-Lakshmipur regional highway in front of Aliya Madrasah in the district town today.

Mohammad Ullah, 76, was a Jatiya Party MP from 1986 to 1988. He is the son of late Akkas Mia Hawlader of Banchanagar area of ??Lakshmipur town. He was the former president of the district Jatiya Party.

The accident occurred when he was crossing the Dhaka-?Lakshmipur regional road in front of Aliya Madrasa around 3 pm. At that time, a speeding motorcycle hit him and he fell on the side of the road and was serious injured, officer-in-Charge (OC) of Lakshmipur Sadar Model Police Station Mosleh Uddin said.

Later, he was rushed to Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

The body was handed over to the family members, the OC added.
