DHAKA, Aug 26, 2023 (BSS) - Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim today said that BNP-Jamaat wants to overthrow the government and trample democracy.

"BNP-Jamaat wants to oust the government and trample democracy. They want to come to power in a dictatorial manner by creating an unstable situation in the country," he said.

The AL leader said this while addressing a discussion and a doa-mahfil organized by the Bangabandhu Veterinary Parishad on the premises of the Department of Livestock Services at Khamarbari here marking the National Mourning Day.

Urging all to take stance against BNP-Jamaat's plotting, murder and communalism in the name of the politics, Bahauddin Nasim said: "We have to create public opinion against their misdeeds. We have to protect 17 crore people of the country from them."

He said that BNP-Jamaat will try to harm the people of the country whenever they would get an opportunity.

"They want to gain political advantage by any means," he added.

With Bangabandhu Veterinary Parishad President and Agriculturist Dr Fazle Rabbi Mondal Atar in the chair, the discussion was addressed, among others, by Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Dr Nahid Rashid, Bangladesh Krishak League President Samir Chanda, Director General of Department of Livestock Services Dr Md Emdadul Haque Talukder and Secretary General of Krishibid Institution Bangladesh Md Khairul Alam (Prince).
