DHAKA, Aug 29, 2023 (BSS) - Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen has paid a courtesy call on the legendary figure President of Timor Leste, J. Ramos Horta at latter's official residence in Timor on Monday.

During the meeting, the foreign minister said Bangladesh and Timor Leste had showcased to the world the similar courage, sacrifice, struggle and leadership for independence, a foreign ministry's press release said here tonight.
 
Momen praised the personal courage and leadership of President Ramos Horta and mentioned about Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman under whose charismatic leadership Bangladesh was liberated in 1971.

President Ramos Horta fondly recollected his memory to visit the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum during his visit to Bangladesh in 2014.

Bangladesh Foreign Minister sought support of President Ramos Horta on the Rohingya issue.

President Horta expressed his solidarity with Bangladesh on the Rohingya issue.

On the common challenge like climate change Timor President appreciated Bangladesh's leadership role and expressed keenness to work collaboratively on the climate change issue.

The foreign minister extended an invitation to President Ramos Horta to visit Bangladesh and delivered a lecture at Bangladesh Foreign Service Academy as part of 'Bangabandhu Lecture Series'.

The meeting was marked with full of warmness and extraordinary hospitality while President himself gave a short tour around his Banglo for Foreign Minister and his delegation.
