DHAKA, Sept 01, 2023 (BSS) - Leaders and workers of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), who gathered at the Suhrawardy Udyan for peacefully holding the biggest ever rally, today offered Jummah prayers there.
Hafez Obaidullah, Religious Affairs Secretary of Titumir College Chhatra League Sub-Committee, led the prayers.
After Jummah prayers, BCL Religious Affairs Secretary Syed Azizul Hakim said, "Today is Friday, so we have performed Jummah prayers here."
He said after 12 noon, thousands of students, Chhatra League leaders and workers from different parts of the country entered the rally venue with enthusiasm and chanting slogans.
Within short time, a large number of BCL leaders, workers and supporters thronged Dhaka University TSC gate, Bangla Academy gate, Kali Mandir gate and Ramna IEB gate, Hakim added.
The BCL, the students' wing of ruling Awami League (AL), held the biggest-ever rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in memory of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Raman and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatun Nesa Mujib.
Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina addressed the rally as the chief guest.
Former BCL leader Md Moniruzzaman Monir said it was the historic gathering as students from across the country participated in the rally to give an ultimatum to BNP-Jamaat, the external enemies of this country and war criminals, militants and terrorists.
